School’s Out For Summer!

Finally!

No more homework. No more waking up early to ride a congested bus to school five days a week. No more sitting through endless days of classes that feel like they will never end… (Well, at least till next September) :)

It’s time to welcome summer.

Come out this Wednesday, for the best BBQ and pool party ever.

What a great way to start summer vacation. Splash around in the pool and then munch on all the marshmallows and hot dogs you could ever eat. It’s sure to be a blast. You won’t want to miss the kick-off of the summer. It will be so awesome, all your friends will be jealous… In fact, you should probably invite them to come with.

When: June 24th
Time:
6pm -10pm
Location: The Clarkes (303 St. Lawrence Dr. Welland)
Bring: Yourself, a swimsuit, a towel, your friends.
Cost: $5

p.s. oh yeah, one more thing. Is someone you know just finishing grade 5? Bring them along too! Anyone who will be going into grade 6 in the fall is welcome.

Chain Reaction

Over the past few weeks we’ve been looking at how God shapes our lives through the prophetic words of others, and what it means to find the purpose that God has set out for us. Now, these two things can be hard enough to figure out on their own, let alone, knowing what to do with all of this stuff when trying to go about every day life and when trying to make a difference in the world around us.

Just how does it all link together? Come out Wednesday night as we try to answer the question…. Now what?

Hiking + Ice Cream … is now the Indoor Waterpark

HERE IS THE UPDATED PLAN…

Since it’s kind of nasty outside and still calling for thunderstorms at 5:30 (which is kind of when we’re supposed to start)…

AND since it’s not great Ice Cream weather…

We’re going to be going to the Indoor Waterpark at the Americana Hotel in Niagara Falls instead!

So here’s what you need to know…

    • The cost is $8 per person

      • We are LEAVING the church at 5:30… so try to get here by 5:20 or so….

        • You need your bathing suit and a towel!

          • You still need a permission form  (Need one? Click here) - just write “Americana Waterpark” for the event location

          • We will be back at the church by 9:30pm (latest)

Also, because I know you want to know, if you were a member of the Skull Skrapers, you STILL get free ice-cream on our next trip (we’re going to reschedule the hiking + ice-cream) … so stay tuned - you’re not getting ripped off!!!

OK, so if you haven’t noticed, it’s kind of supposed to be thunder and lightning ALL DAY tomorrow…
So here is the UPDATED plan! We are looking into a sweet indoor backup plan, but we’re also going to watch the weather all night and all morning…

Check back here by 4:00pm tomorrow (Wednesday May 26th) for an update on if we’re still hiking, or if we’re doing something else! We’ll also make phone calls tomorrow at the same time.

Come out and join us at 5:30 at the church for hiking at Balls Falls. and if that’s not fun enough… we will be getting some ice cream afterwards and those who were in the Skull Skrapers and won last week’s barbarians, will be getting FREE ice cream! Hiking is free; just bring your own ice cream money (except those who won!). Remember to wear proper shoes and dress weather appropriate!

              Time: 5:30 - 8:30

Where: meeting at the church then Balls Falls

Bring: water, $$$ for ice cream, proper shoes and clothing, and a signed permission form (Need one? Click here)

See you there! and don’t forget the bug spray!

              MBX 2: Lazertag

Messy Roads + Reduced Visiblity = Stay Home!

Due to the all of the snow we’ve gotten today, Uprising is cancelled for tonight.

Weather reports are calling for drifting snow in the area. Estimations of 15 centimetres are expected to fall.
You can check the local weather report for yourself, here.

Also, the regional police are asking that people to stay home tonight, unless they absolutely have to go out. They’re already heavily preoccupied helping people out on the roads, and don’t really need more people to save.

Tonight’s theme Little Christians, Big God, will be postponed until next week. It will replace the off-site skating and hockey that was scheduled.

              Uprising Starts Next Week!

Just a quick notice, there is no Uprising this week. So, stay home and enjoy the snow-day! (Or ice-day, whatever you want to call it.)

We will start up again next week, Jan. 14.

The Great Christmas Caper II. Details.

This is the event you have been waiting for all year long.

You’ve practiced you scavenger hunting skills, you’ve mapped out the mall, you drank ten redbulls(not recommended), and you’ve laced-up your sneakers.

              It is finally time.

Tomorrow is… The Great Christmas Caper II.
It’s bigger. It’s badder. It’s better than ever!

We’ll be heading off to the Pen Center via Bus, and setting out on the most fantastic mall hunt ever. Afterwards, we’ll head back to the church for a delicious Christmas banquet, and victory announcement of the 2008 Christmas Caper winners.

Since we will be taking the bus to the Pen Center, please be at the church at 6:45pm. We will leave at 7:00pm. SHARP. Warning: If you are late we will leave without you.

The cost is $10, and it is well worth it.

To cram-in all of the fantastic fun, the event will go until 9:30pm. Be sure to let your parents know of the later end-time. Also, remember to bring a signed permission form.

This is sure to be a blast! So… bring your friends!

Did your permission form magically go missing? Did it get eaten by the dog? Don’t worry, I got you covered. You can access a blank one here. Remember to fill in the event name and location (Pen Center, St. Catharines, On.), and get it signed by a parental unit.

              See you there!
